Under the name "Junkpunk" Simon creates strange and fantastic puppets, figures and sculptures using locally found items, natural materials and discarded junk. He designs, builds, sculpts and paints strange beings and magical characters inspired by the diverse local habitat, wildlife and folklore of Northern England.

These include curious goblins that comb the shores for washed up treasure, twisted root spirits from the woods and delicate faeries. Some of the creations are inspired by the rich local folklore and mythology, whilst others are inspired by medieval gargoyles and carvings, classical book illustrations and other places where our imagination has been let loose!

He also molds and casts his original designs in eco-friendly materials such as jesmonite and bio-resin then carefully hand-paints them.
